According to the book, the whole idea of the Trunchbull’s method of discipline was that the punishments she gave out were so outrageous that the kids’ parents would never believe them. Who would buy a story about a boy eating an entire chocolate cake in front of the school, or a girl being flung out of the playground by her pigtails?
I’m curious to see how Jenny would react to “The Witches.” Either the book or the 1990 movie.
Jenny’s question in panel 3… I don’t really know who would be more at fault here… teachers choosing to hate a kid for being a weird kid instead of trying to understand them, or Jenny not catching on that real life is not at all like the movies she watches so she shouldn’t try to mimick movie premises.
We should at least be glad she likely won’t turn into Haruhi Suzumiya where her boredom of real life manifests into a strange powerful force that ends up affecting reality.
Actually, wasn’t there a Goosebumps episode where a kid gets punished for not accepting reality the way it is? Maybe Jenny should watch that episode and learn something from it.
“Hang on, I caught maybe half of that.” This line by itself puts Louise ahead of at least 80% of the general population when it comes to understanding Jenny.
