@Anon I think by now, both Stephanie and Lindsay would have forgiven each other already, but I recall that finale from last year’s “Silence of the Lambs” arc in which Jessica was about to pay a visit to Steph. Maybe she did something to her and someone close to her would blame Lindsay and/or Staci for that?
This is just me talking, but I feel like instead of Deb deluding herself that she got the last word in, she was just dragged away screaming in anguish. For some reason, it never sits well with me when the bad guys don’t know/refuse to admit they’ve lost, or at least don’t show it as much.
Wow. What a way to end the arc. Though I kinda feel like the ending was kinda dragged out for too long, it’s good to see Deb finally get her what was coming to her.
I apologize in advance if this bothers Jesse, but I had a wacky idea the other day for a potential villian. A family member (like an Uncle) of Stephanie tries to get revenge on Lindsay for the laters bullying of the former. Maybe they could brandish a fake gun on her in an effort to make her see what she did wrong, but quickly discovers that she already has and that they did it all for nothing. Again, JB, I sincerely hope that this doesn’t bother you. I’m not at all criticizing your wrong style.
My biggest issue with this continuity’s villains is that besides not being nuanced at all, acting and behaving like cartoonishly over-the-top strawmen and usually getting off with a slap on the wrist, at the end of the day they’re just not that entertaining. Call me an edgelord but I liked this comic better when it had actual stakes.
Going off JB’s talk about villains yesterday, I for one have no problem when villain/antagonist characters in this comic show up. After the horrific shit show we’ve experienced in the past 8 years, our anger’s better spent reacting furiously to those rather than a work of fiction like this. The more ridiculous & over the top, the better (especially when it serves a satirical point). Like the old saying goes: the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
The “hate-sex gay all along” is character assassination as a parting shot. Just to make sure “that she was wrong all along!” Deb had a few good points to her MAD argument, though the “don’t teach, don’t ask” approach to sex ed was the wrong way to go about it- for Deb, not for the story she was in. This could have been done better, as at this point Deb was already defeated and this sort of backwriting breakdown was overkill. Tina is 100% right in the second panel and more people need to accept that, in real life as well as this comic strip. Which makes this level of adult introspection just strange since JB is able to be that mature for a moment, and this is harmless to everyone other than Deb. Parking lots are cursed places in this series.
I hope Deb lets her lawyer do the talking at court. She’s probably looking at a fine and a second court date of losing custody of Jacob, as long as she doesn’t say anything as crazy as this ‘come clean conversation’ with Tina. Of course, this is hard to top. If Deb _doesn’t_ end up going to jail, this would be hard to live down. Just “here’s a fine” and sending Deb right around back into every work relationship that she just “this is what I really think of you” burnt down.
This is the 90s, it’s halloween, does Steve know about the (pre popularity-tampering) Harly Quinn character? He’d make for a good retail drone, helping Deb to select something to wear for the halloween that the length of this comic is glossing over.
A part of me DOES kinda feel bad for Deb. On one hand, her conflicts with her mother and homosexuality (or bisexuality) negatively warped her mind. On the other hand, I bet even a trained psychiatrist might have difficulty dealing with her.
It’s always the ones who scream the loudest against it that are the ones the most into it. Very much true to life.
@Superior Gorilla That wasn’t Stephanie. It was a girl named Cindy.

Also that can be considered assault, so add that to the harassment charges. Yeah you certainly “won” that, miss crazy.
-Shrug- Whatever helps you sleep at night, Deb. Not gonna be missing you anytime soon.

Cliche, but the kiss was amusing.

Yeah, I thought Deb might try a “f**k you kiss”…

Would it be any better if instead of kissing Tina, Deb slapped her?
That was expected.
Now we have one more strip (or two if JB includes a bonus in the sunday strip.
Well, now she can add sexual assault to her list of felonies. Yeah, she’s gonna be in jail for a WHILE.

Well, didn’t see that coming.
Also, Deb, Tina’s married, and felt nothing after that kiss.
You didn’t win anything.

Nothing really important, Will.
Welp, Tina did her best. She’s very likeable, I gotta say.
Well, that happened.
Also Deb, you kissed her, and she felt NOTHING. Get over yourself.
Yeah Will, you just missed a psychopath of a woman lay her lips upon your wife. lol
Taking a note right from Nathan White!

LOL that’s a solid marriage right there!
