The real question is why A&R guy is being so squirrely here. It would be the simplest thing in the world to pay her for the song or remove it if she refused.
Would’ve been even simpler to not put the song on the album like they asked, but I’m sure there’s a story coming explaining why A&R made such an unnecessary decision.
