The chakram is rotating when it’s thrown, and the target isn’t always the same distance away, which means there’s no way to know exactly how many times it’s rotated — and thus, which side is facing Xena — by the time it gets back to her hand. Grab it a few milliseconds too early or too late, and SLICE! They’ll be calling her “Xena: Warrior Fingerless” from then on.
But then again, this IS a show where Xena helped David beat Goliath, fought Mephistopheles and Satan, and killed Zeus with a knife, so I don’t think believability was very high on their priorities list. 😉
