Normally I try to stay away from the comments during storylines that focus on characters like Nathan or Ronald, cause those kinds of stories tend to spark some… heavy reactions, let us put it that way. However, after noticing the description you made on your “Doomed to Repeat It” comic on DeviantArt, I grew more curious until finally caving in just hours ago. And boy, what I saw was quite the read XD
Personally, while I know next to nothing about how sexual harassment scandals play out (especially the Clarence Thomas scandal which I only recently found out is what this storyline was parodying), this version of Nathan was an improvement over the original in my eyes. He is still an insufferable piece of shit, but you gave him some character depth (for lack of better term) and an actual punishment. True, having him go crazy at the end like all the other villains was kinda annoying, but I really feel like you did a MUCH better job laying out this storyline than the original.
I’ll be honest. THIS is what I would be fine with for Nathan IF the previous strips where he goes crazy weren’t included. A few strips where he’s clearly a creep but doesn’t go *too* far, then gets suspended and gets set up as a future antagonist. But this just feels stupid at this point. Like Teacher Whoever said, Nathan would be lucky if he was just suspended for all the shit he did BEFORE motorboating Jocelyn. You’re telling me that in this cartoon world he just got suspended after all that? Bullshit.
Nathan hasn’t learned a thing. Blaming water for being wet isn’t the way to stand under an umbrella. Though I’m sure those council rules will cause a lot of chaos during the submission, declining, and appeal.
Yeah, Nathan. Count yourself lucky you only got suspended. But I’m willing to bet the student body is going to give Nathan hell on earth when he returns.
I know I’ve already said this on DA, but might as well bring it up here as well:
This is probably because I was a latecomer to the series (getting into the series during its mid May 1993 hiatus), but I never had too much of an issue with the exaggerated over-the-top spiteful nature of the comic (both in the original or this new incarnation). I mean, there were some things that weren’t the greatest (like Tina & Kevin), but I already burnt out my anger in 2015-2016 (you can probably guess why) so getting all bitter & butthurt about a fictional comic was just not worth it.
I’m more OK with the antagonists in this comic than I am in something like Parks & Rec. THAT show’s use of villains I just can’t stand (with the exception of Tammy) ’cause they ALWAYS get away scottfree & after the shitstorm that was 2016-2020, it’s made it harder to find the line between parody & real life (& maybe it’s the “live action vs drawn” aspect that makes the comic easier).
Sesame Street songwriter Jeff Moss once said: “As a TV writer, you’ve got 2 jobs. One is to do TV that a 4-year-old will wanna watch and the other is to do TV that YOU wanna watch.” (I know that’s more TV based & not artist-based, but it’s the sentiment that counts). This whole comic & these characters have obviously been a long passion project for Jesse & I must say, he’s really been succeeding in rectifying those sour aspects very well in this new incarnation (he wouldn’t have started over from scratch if things were going “fine” as they were). Jesse, you’re doing a fantastic job with this series & all these small improvements really are helping making it better than ever. Ignore the douchebaggery of those that are just here to bitch, whine & devoid themselves of actually enjoying this comic for what it is.

Is it weird that Steve and Jocelyn have one of the healthiest relationships in the whole webcomic?

Confesses he has urges, but is ignorant of real female anatomy.
Speaking of boners and things Jocelyn is responsible for, shouldn’t Nathan be in the hospital with his pelvis in a plaster cast?
I agree with Zach. Don’t let nay sayers get you down Jesse. You’ve a good job at solving the problems and listening. This arc was fun

When a devout Christian hits puberty. Poor deluded little shit.

The end.
She’s presenting her reBUTTal.
For the record NATHAN. Satan is attractive, you just gotta treat her better than you’ve been doing. Like WAY better.
