Holy shiitake mushrooms, I did NOT mean to go on such a mumbly, incoherent rant and post that unparagraphed, messy wall of text. Don’t know if y’all will read it or not but whatever, had to take all that outta my chest.
Zack – That’d be ideal, allowing people filter through the negativity whilst still letting the contrarians do their stuff. Honestly I might be alone on this but I find Mole’s commentary quite entertaining as he does bring up valid points every now and then, he’s just one salty, sore sailor about it. Jocelyn lives rent-free in his head since Aaron had uncoloured hair but he has one valid criticism regarding her relationship with others, she’s often the instigator, like, I’ve met people like Jocelyn and even when I wasn’t openly hostile to them, they’d always find a reason to behave like grade-A jerks around me. IDK if they felt the world and everybody in it were out to get them or smth and I know all of this sounds very much anecdotal and I’m pretty much rambling at this point but punks and alternative folks and I never got along all that well so I’m not that big on Jocelyn ’cause her in-your-face attitude, plot armour and karma-evading powers hits too home and pushes all the wrong buttons for me. I guess I’m trying to justify my, believe me, very mild distaste for some fictional webcomic character late atnight instead of getting some shut-eye. Point is, again, I ain’t too fond of Jocelyn as a character but I do get what other people enjoy about her. Mole, my ol’ buddy-pal o’ mine, you gotta understand that Jocelyn won’t be going anywhere any time soon. In the meantime, try and learn to spell her name so people will take your opinions into consideration as valid talking points and not as tryhard attempts at trolling and ragebaiting.
@ Dollars: I agree with that. If only there was a commenter blocker option to keep trolls away from spamming hate, ’cause it mostly comes from 2 people more than anyone else.
Dickweed should start searching for some ninja smoke bombs right about now, I would say.
On an unrelated note, seeing how much somewhat unwanted and frankly unwarranted attention and reaction this particular story arc has gotten, wouldn’t you guys agree that we could use a Discord server or a subreddit to properly discuss our feelings towards this strip without overwhelming JB with our critiques and/or criticisms? Just a thought.
Zach- Just what I said. Set by step, cue-on-time, the only thing that’s happened is this Nathan’s been “revealed” as “just as bad as the people he loudly denounces.” Which is predictable story-wise, but I admit I didn’t think of this turn. One would think it would have stopped a few days ago, but JB just keeps making it worse for Nathan. There’s 4 more days left. What if that angle… keeps going?
I’m certainly not suggesting you should make your bad guys completely deranged monsters like Kevin and Rick in the old continuity, but a balance between utterly despicable scumbags and living cartoon characters would be nice.
I mean, if I have any criticisms on the writing, it’s that I wish some of the antagonists had more dimensions to them. Nathan, like Jessica, Zeke, Joel’s boss at McDonald’s, etc. is written completely over the top. He’s yelling and acting totally insane. It’s fine if one villain acts this way, but if you keep doing this for all your bad guys then it becomes stale.
A good antagonist is someone like Ronald, who behaves more like a real person but is still a total buffoon.
The fifth? At this point, he should ask for a nice, dignified, firing squad.
Hopefully before the Backstory Reality Changes makes him into a cross-dresser.
It wasn’t until reading the tags for this particular strip that this is supposed to be parodying the Clarence Thomas sexual harassment scandal (which I admittedly know next-to-nothing about). So now this is all making better sense.
He’s still annoying as hell, but I think I like this version of Nathan better if only because he’s actually receiving repercussions for his actions and portraying him as a more genuinely disturbing character via sexual harassment. I had a feeling there was something deeper considering how counterproductive his “plans” were.
Yup expelled… provided the girls don’t throttle him first.
Okay… was *this* moment really necessary? It was already proven that he was sexually harassing other students.
No, son, what you have to do is run like f#ck.
Forgot to type *close to home* in my second comment, I need to hire a proofreader.

He is Nathan White: self-proclaimed moral guardian, harasser of women, and closet pervert!

@ Mole: “Backstory Reality Changes makes him into a cross-dresser”? The hell is that supposed to mean?

It’s always the people who preach the loudest about how pure and righteous they are…
And that is the nail in the coffin. How much do you wanna bet Steve is going to clean Nathan’s clock?

I vote for Steve punching Nathan’s lights out.
Ooooh, Nathan’s stepped in it now~!
