Oh yeah that whole era, I actually remember Barney starting off in the DTV tapes before he really took off. I was just impartial to him really, harmless and did teach a good messages. But oof he was everywhere, it wasn’t hard to get fatigued with him. Didnt help that the daycare I went to during my elementary school day kept playing this tape from one of his live shows. I just wanted my Ninja Turtles, Batman and Ducktales, dang it. LOL.

Ah yes, Barney the Dinosaur. No children’s character in television history has engendered more hate from the poor saps forced to watch along with their kids. He was the inspiration for a multitude of humorous parody songs, most of them focused on the murder of the giant purple monstrosity (e.g., “I hate you, you hate me, let’s team up and kill Barney…”).

Katy looks like Daria in the fourth panel.

    Well, that wasn’t so bad.

If Joel were there, he’d probably help make it more bearable for his sis by going all MST3K/RiffTrax on those Barney eps. God knows I have with the Backyard Gang series.

Ashley and Katey are such good friends I think that JB watches some unknown-to-me young sitcom that’s sweeter than Full House to base them on.
Barney was never good. It was time better spent watching actual Sesame Street.
I’m never sure if things Ashley says like that third panel are meant to be that dumb, or if it’s just her way of reminding Katey that there’s a spare key.

Admittedly, Barney was one of the first TV shows I saw as a little tot. Can’t believe I wasn’t scared by Barney’s appearance back when I was two to three, and now he just creeps me out today.

Honestly, I’d say Katy succeeded without even trying. An extremely rare W for her.
