@GumbyIsInnocent: The World Wide Web had been in the public knowledge for a few years at this point (occasionally referred to as the Information Superhighway, which I’m really glad didn’t catch on), but it hadn’t permeated all aspects of our lives like it has now. Most people just saw it as a quirky novelty. As more of its functions became more streamlined, more and more people used it, and it became evident that it was here to stay.
I gotta say, unless I’m misremembering another moment, but I think this is the first instance of an “It Will Never Catch On” joke in the five years of this version of the strip. You know along the lines of “Ronald Regan? Who’s the Vice President, Jerry Lewis”.
I imagine it’s pretty tempting to use that joke so often in a period piece, but credit where credit’s due, JB has done a pretty good job at mostly avoiding such an obvious joke most of the time.
Was too young when this was going on to really understand it, but I do remember the whole car chase as I had fallen asleep while helping mom doing something and was woken up by her exclaiming about it. Was a media circus after that.

Heh, I remember seeing those Psychic Friends Network infomercials… I “predict” Patricia will turn to them now in her time of need. XD

Haha oh Patricia, prepare to be disappointed.

Still obsessed with the O.J. Simpson thing.
Oh boy. The O.J. trial storyline.
Good to know Patricia’s having a bad day like I am!
ADHD’s a bitch, ain’t it?
