Man, I was so surprised seeing that Samus was a woman way back then. And if Joel thinks that Samus’s death sprite (Which is a two-piece, not a onesie), is egregious, wait until he sees Chun-Li and Lara Croft. Female leads had a bit of a rough start in video games early on.
Ah yes, Super Metroid. Easily one of the best action games on the SNES, and the game that introduced many of Samus’s now-standard abilities, like the Speed Booster, Gravity Suit, Grapple Beam, and Power Bombs. Much love.
Although, if you keep dying repeatedly to the first Space Pirate or the Torizo statue, then either you really, really suck at the game, or you’re doing it on purpose. Gee, I wonder which one applies to Kevin.
Interestingly, while the game came out in Japan around this time, it didn’t reach America until the following month. I wonder how they got a copy so early without importing.
Well, if Kevin enjoys the game, he enjoys the game.
I could never get the flash heal move to work.

Is that really what Samus’ outfit looked like underneath?
I bet Amber would be upset if she saw Kevin doing this on purpose XD
And the award for “Easiest comic to make because the artist got to copy-paste about half of the panels” goes to…
@Robotdick: Aw, dammit, I did it again! 😑 Only this time, I didn’t catch it in time like I did with the Secret of Mana comic.
I can see Kevin trying to convince Amber to cosplay as her. xD

Super Metroid, that was one hell of a game. And I forgot how sensual the death scenes were.
I think he’s attracted to her.
Kevin would be disappointed in modern Metroid games which replaced the bikini with a blue jumpsuit… or he would like it better. Whatever his fetish XD
And to be fair, some people DID consider this empowering at the time. I know Jocelyn would LMAO
