In the back of my mind, I get the feeling this might be the worst we see Ron at in this continuity, considering he’s basically playing Richard Dreyfuss in this storyline. Jesse insists that things won’t get as dark or as intense as the previous version, so bear in mind that this whole storyline is basically one big movie parody, and Jesse’s just trying to pay tribute to the source material.
Ya know, I’m kind of at a crossroads here. On one hand I want the author to explore Jocelyn and her parents viewpoints (mainly Phyllis’) in a much longer, deeper way. I mean if she was my daughter I would be somewhat worried about her choice of lifestyle. But on the other hand I feel that by doing so would bring this comic back a bit to a much darker feel like it had before 2020 (I didn’t start reading until Covid hit). Really not sure what to feel right about this right now.
“We forbid you to see that boy anymore.” It’s kind of funny how she actually believes Jocelyn will obey this “order”, despite all evidence to the contrary.
It’s amazing that they’re BOTH conservative as hell, yet Phyllis is at least TRYING to be sensible compared to that rageaholic she calls a husband. Hopefully he won’t take Steve hostage this time around.

If this year were 2002, a training day reference would be slipped in.

If I know the film, I’m worried about how this is gonna end.
isn’t happening i meant to say
Well, Ronald is sliding further off the slippery slope. I will be surprised if he’s isn’t in a straight jacket by the end of this arc.
Ron in the 3rd panel is one of the best quotes in What about Bob?, but really, here, that’s partly how the concept of in-laws works.

Im guessing the part where he ties up Steve in the car is happening this time around
