@MegaJar: Gremlins 2 actually has a joke about that, there’s a scene where some scientists argue over what exactly that rule means. One of them brings up time zones even.
You know, when you think about it, “don’t feed it after midnight” makes no sense. It’s ALWAYS after midnight! 11:59 PM is 23 hours and 59 minutes after midnight!
Presumably, what they actually meant was “between midnight and sunrise”.
That looks like a full grown cat. Putting aside the Gremlins expy, it’s sure to have it’s own way of doing things. Katey doesn’t stand a chance. She’d feed it after midnight just to get it to stop meowing. Poor William won’t be having any tuna on anything now.
If it was a stray to start with, the parents should be smart enough to check if those dark calico blotches are dirt. Not to mention fleas. As for the Gremlins expy, did Katey check if it’s a male, because if not then Katey would be just in time for it have kittens. (I think gestation is only 2 months?)
Gizmo looks too smug. Like he knows he’s already won.
This reminds me of a time my family actually did try to take in a feral cat. It didn’t work. lol We had to chase him back outside. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when he ate our Thanksgiving turkey.
Oh, this is not gonna end well. I got a feeling Katy is going to learn the hard way on what happens when you take in a stray cat with little to no experience on how to take care of animals.
It’s been a while, but during the DA days of the strip, didn’t they have a pet cat?

@FireballDragon: You just beat me to it.
@Lourenzo: Servo! I miss him so much, maybe this is his origin story.

Natural Born Gizmo Cat
(I don’t know who will get that, but I know the right people will)
I think Joel and his family had a cat in older incarnations but it was just rarely seen
Is there any piece of pop culture that Joel ISN’T familiar with?
Katy, if you know what’s good for you (And you usually don’t, but just throwing this out there), DO NOT FEED THAT FUCKING THING AFTER MIDNIGHT.
