@Aluminumfalcone: Nothing quite that dark – they just argued a lot, because they had very different worldviews. The last straw was when Rick took Aaron hunting against Marion’s wishes. He thought it was a fun father-son bonding experience, she thought Aaron was gonna get himself killed.
I want to portray Rick as kind of cluelessly insensitive. He doesn’t act out of anger or hate, he’s just so stuck in the past that he can’t comprehend how the world has changed. And he had hoped to be a war hero in Vietnam, but he got injured and sent home before he could even see combat, so he’s been trying to recapture some of that glorious thrill ever since. But thanks to his stubbornness, he keeps fumbling the opportunities he has to learn and grow.
@TheJayster49 – Given that Lethal Weapon 3 was rented at the start of this arc, I’m surprised Rick isn’t addicted to dog biscuits. (Yeah, Riggs chews on them to rid of his cigs addiction as well.)
@Ghost – I don’t think it was ever established that Rick’s been to jail (surprisingly enough). Marion mentioning “alimony checks” is because they’re divorced, meaning Rick has to pay child support.
Wow, Marion is so done with Rick that it almost seems like she has some sort of retraining order on him. Like “I want absolutely nothing to do with you” levels of done. lol
Glad things finally worked out the good way. First, we have seen the birth of Westworld, how Andrew and Ryan finally stopped bullying Eric, Lindsay’s graduation and the downfall of Dorkroney, we have had the first redeemable character in the entire series (Becca), and now we are witnesses of how Rick received a very good character development from a man who always talk about himself and his army days to a man who really can overcome his addiction to tobacco. I fully realized @jbwarner86 was telling us the truth and that this new timeline will take a very different path for the good.
And I hope Marion remarries Rick and Aaron can have his family together again (not a sarcasm BTW).
@TheJayster. But if he switched to Pez then his teeth would start to hurt. Then he would switch to Lifesavers but then his tongue would lose its taste buds. Then he would switch to breath mints but then people would complain about his breath being too sweet, Ect ect.
I was wondering if maybe there would be a subtle Seinfeld reference and Rick would become addicted to Pez, but gum works just as fine (until your jaw starts aching after a while).
I also love how Aaron’s reasoning for wanting his parents to get back together is just so he wouldn’t have to do chores. That’s such an Aaron thing to say XD
@jbwarner86 I see. I must’ve been thinking about the OLD Rick instead of this one. My bad.
Heh. Good for Rick.

Nice subtle movement of Marion closing the door…
Maybe there’s another reason Marion divorced Rick…I’m betting it’s either alcoholism, poor financial management or poor anger management.

Of course he’s in jail!
This was a really fun story.
Rick missed Marion, and I don’t think his aim is getting much better, unlike his attempt to quit cigs.
One step at a time, Rick.
