Project MKULTRA did exists and it was so fucked up. But it had nothing to do with psychic powers. The project was done by the CIA to develop procedures and identify drugs that could be used during interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture. They loaded people up with different psycho active drugs, without knowledge or consent, and subjected them to numerous forms of abuse including electroshock, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal abuse, SA, and other forms of torture. It went on for 20 years before the government stopped it because of the Watergate scandal, and the project leads feared their work would also leak. This project had its origins in Nazi Germany in the death camps where scientists decided to “experiment” on the war prisoners there. They were trying to create a truth serum, so of course the OSS (later the CIA) picked up on the project. So fucking dark.
Hopefully, we get to see an imagination/fantasy sequence of Felicity as one of the Species. Those are always fun.
