This was a heartwarming and funny strip. Love how Tina is a lot friendlier in the reboot and I am hoping that William gets some more character development in the new continuity. Also, it’s kinda ironic that this strip ran with the Super Bowl coming up and the 49ers are trying to go for their sixth Super Bowl title.
I just have the feeling you’re not ready for some football.
Also, man oh man, “There’s No Disgrace Like Home”, that episode is probably notable for two things:
1. The shock therapy scene
2. How “wrong” the inciting incident and characterization stuff feels in hindsight. Even as far forward as like season 2 there’s no way Homer would ever find his family embarrassing, and Bart and Maggie are the only main characters who feel consistent with the larger show.
Anyways, now that this reboot has established Tina from the start as her own character and not just a foil for Joel (and Katy, but to a lesser extent), I’m finding this moment rather adorable.

There’s No Disgrace Like Home, the fourth Simpsons episode in production order and airing order, aired on January 28, 1990.
Tina’s like, “They scored a home-run basket!” or the like…
I’ve effectively given up hope on the Bears making it to another Super Bowl. Sorry Willy, but I’m rooting for SF next week.
Points for the Jetsons reference there, Tina. There may be hope for you yet…
“Oh look, the red and gold men just scored! Their mothers must be so proud.” That is just adorable. ^_^
“Anything you say can be used to get you ready for some football!” XD
Can’t blame ya, Katy!
This Super Bowl was an old fashioned ass-whooping from the word “go.” Final score: 55-10, 49ers.
