A better response that she might accept is that a car is a machine built to transport people from point A to B without having to enslave a horse… the environmental thing is just a side effect.

Wait, so you’re telling me that Denise walks EVERYWHERE? That must be hell on her feet…in the middle of winter no less! You know that feeling you get when you step on a LEGO? I’ll bet she feels that all the time.
I do like how this is not an exact rehash of the original comic, which itself was ALMOST an exact rehash of the original Forever 16 comic.
I also enjoy that Joel is more shy and nervous here rather than cold and dismissive as in the original. Of course, if my date was a hippie cloudcuckoolander who wears nothing underneath, I think I’d be a little annoyed myself.

You’re right! They’ve never worn clothes suitable for the Winter the whole continunity!
I suspect that what Denise’s grandfather said yesterday is not repeatable in polite company.

You know, it just occurred to me: isn’t it supposed to be January in Minnesota in this story? And they’re going to walk dressed like that?
Unfortunately, EV’s won’t be around for a few more years…
Ditch the bitch, Joel! I don’t care how hot she is! Run!
Red Rain has a point- is Denise more FIT than Joel will ever be?
A few miles? That’s what, a half hour or an hour? Lots of time for talking.

Joel’s going to be ready to pass out by the time they get to the cafe, is he?
