@EightyMac: Heh yeah I used to do that around the early 2000s. Though ironically by that point because of the rise of DVDs, blank tapes were reduced in price. I could go to my dollar store and get em on the cheap. Manage to snag a lot of movies and episodes thanks to that.
To answer Kristen’s question in the last panel — if you wanna conserve space on the tape, then yes. You’ve gotta sit here through this entire program with your finger hovering over the pause button, ready to pause recording when the commercial break starts, and ready to un-pause recording when the program resumes — often without any advance warning!
Honestly I APPLAUD Urkel for breaking the norm. Near every black character I saw back then was either an angry one, some urban jive talker or all about representation. It’s actually nice to get a African-American that was outside that at the time, even if he was a nerd. I met black folks who had much more personalities but writers can never seem to shake those templates.
This is going to be interesting.

Cannot help but think they look like a grown up version of Jenny and Eric, with the latter putting his own interests over the other this time.
“Is it sex tape time?”
I guess she’s not COMPLETELY objected to the thought of doing porn XD
