People who suggest Joel could just go do something else really have no idea what life in suburban 1990 was like. It’s January, so he can’t exactly leave the house. He may have a Nintendo, but it’s hooked up to the ONE tv. It’s possible they have no computer and certainly no internet. So it’s the TV or books.
Anyways, AFAIK, TV didn’t start getting consistently good until the mid-late ’60’s. You had the Twilight Zone before that point, and other anthology shows, but when we started getting good comedy with bite was in the late 60’s. And that’s also when genre TV started being elevated above kiddie fare and westerns, too.
To answer everyone’s questions, The Simpsons is only two episodes old at this point, and all that exists of Seinfeld is its pilot episode from 1989 that no one watched. And as for Nickelodeon, Joel is 16 – ’90s golden age or not, I don’t think Wild & Crazy Kids and Hey Dude are exactly in his wheelhouse.

Taigan, Joel was playing his Nintendo in his room earlier this week, so he very much could go and play if he so desired.

Well, fair is fair, Joel. You got to pick one night, she gets to pick another.
Joel get the fuck over yourself. You can just leave the room.
Mike! – Oh, about 120 pounds.
@TheJayster49: Different guy.

Full House was overrated anyways.
What’s a Tim Conway?
Joel hasn’t watched Seinfeld or the Simpsons yet?
I fuggin’ thought she said Conway Twitty, and not Tim Conway. God I’m stupid…
*Cough* *Cough* Nickelodeon
Just wait, Joel. Now we have FULLER House – the continuation nobody asked for!
also – RIP Tim Conway
Hey,…”TGIF” was still a bit better than “Must See TV”.
Geez Joel, could your text box get any bigger?
And Tina brought up a good distraction for Joel! Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6cnQA17xIw
