I thought I heard that a ton of video games back then were pretty much automatically designed to be “quarter munchers”, so that’s why even the home console versions were made to be very difficult to beat not just the arcade cabinet versions…
makes me real glad sometimes I never became a gamer. I instead got pissed at Humongous Entertainment’s point-and-click PC games. Probably cursed at Putt-Putt, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam and SPY Fox more than anyone my age

God, Super Mario Bros 2 was such a pain in the ass to beat.
I can relate. Takes me 20 tries to complete levels/missions on any game
