It’s a good thing he got his wakeup call from this movie, and not from Clerks. I don’t think Joel could survive the kind of call for introspection that movie would give him. But for the grace of God could Joel be another Dante Hicks.
Well, Joel… you aren’t him. You have no need to compare yourself to others. If you can recognize the parallels and strive to not do those things, you won’t turn out like him. You’ll turn out much better, I guarantee you that.
Joel sounds like he got into a fist fight with his more assholish self from the original continuity LMAO
Though I’d say his concerns are valid; most artists use art as a means to vent personal trauma, and unfortunately, that doesn’t always… end well for them, so to speak (e.g., Ian Curtis, Chester Bennington, Kurt Cobain, etc.)
Looks like watching Reality Bites gave Joel a Jerkass Realization. At least he’s aware of his own negative behavior and will work to correct it.
Joel’s just started the first step to beating a problem: admitting you have a problem.
Maybe Ethan Hawke can play Joel in the Westworld movie. 😁

Joel gazed into the abyss, there…back in the ancient days when “not selling out” still had some meaning. Now, it’s all about selling your brand!
Well, he’s self-aware. So now he must know what NOT to do to not end up like that guy from the movie.
And I know for a fact that Michelle is gonna put him on the right track again. She wants to see her boyfriend smile and for him to be happy.

OK, this is when I think Joel will have to surpass those traumas in order to continue with his career, either if Russell is still in charge or not.
Joel, the fact that you’re self aware enough to recognize your own behavior means that you’re not gonna end up like him lol
