Tch, nothing worse then teacher who can’t encourage their kids. That’s usually a sign that their life didn’t pan out the way they wanted, they gotta try to take other down with them before a shield of authority. Sickening.
JB posted! “most of the dark depressing behavior I’ve depicted in this comic”etc “inspired by my own childhood memories.” I’d say that this week’s comic sure matches my school experiences somewhen. I believe that children should be given a primer for the Debate Club so that they can learn more self-defensive phrases then “I didn’t do it”. As for the rest of it, especially the long and pointless stretches of cruelties, not resolving anything didn’t make for good reading. Abusing someone just allows them to strike back in the same method, and that was the most interesting that Joseyln and Lindsey ever were together. Even Aaron works on trying to keep a cheerful, girl-filled reason to get out of bed in the morning. Steve works on taking the wind out of the sails of his enemies. But Rick going crazy, and evil Keven just took up long stretches of the ‘strip for no payoff. If JB’s teacher spiked a projector like a football, there’s no way that or many other things wouldn’t have fallout, even if it didn’t change anything for JB. Sometimes it’s a matter of not seeing Kevin arrested for causing a parade disturbance, it’s the lack of conclusion in a comic strip. I liked this look into the 80s. The clothes and hair sure were different, and JB drew them well. There’s 7 more characters in the banner cast bar, so maybe we might get another look into the 80s and the nasty little snots that make us all glad that human connections are fleeting. 🙂
Nothing like good ol’ show-and-tell to teach you to bottle your emotions and never open up to anyone, because anything you say will get weaponized and used against you.
To anyone who thinks this is too nasty to be real, please keep in mind that this is 100% based on stuff that actually happened to me in elementary school. My classmates absolutely ganged up on me with this sort of nastiness, and my teachers did jack shit to stop it. The “stupid means foolish” remark is something my fourth grade teacher actually said to me when some kid made fun of me for when I accidentally stabbed my hand with my pencil.
In fact, most of the dark depressing behavior I’ve depicted in this comic throughout the years, the stuff that you guys all thought was too unrealistic, has all been inspired by my own childhood memories. So, y’know, I just wanna put that out there. I don’t know any more than you do why kids and teachers act like this, I can only report what I observed.
If you look closely, you can pinpoint the exact panel his widdle heart broke.
Geez, this got vicious pretty fast. In my experience the only two settings for kids in class are “too scared to talk” and “woooo!”
No bets that Miss Sheedy confiscated that from a student, not because he or she was playing with it, but because Sheedy wanted to play with it.
Believe me, I get completely that school isn’t exactly a pleasant experience, but is there any school related setting in this comic where everybody ISN’T loathsome?
I mean, it says a lot when a deadpan snarker, a perverted hounddog, and a rebellious prankster are some of the nicest people you could ever meet.
Woah what a WITCH! She’s awful

School is a shitty place if you don’t fit in. And good caring teachers are DEFINITELY the exception.

At least that’s how it was in the early 90s.

Damn, that’s straight messed up. I’m with Alex, why be a teacher if you’re gonna be like that?
@Gonzo22 Do you come onto his page just to bitch? If you don’t like the comic, don’t read it. Simple as that!
This is what I’ve been talking. Nearly every adult on the comic is just a huge jerk that they are almost interchangeable with each other.
Oh, God, that struck a cord there.
To think that Joel carried this on his back for the next ten years. I know how that feels.
Well at least one thing hasn’t changed between continuities: The teachers all make Principal Skinner look like Joe Clark.

Yikes, why would someone like that want to even be a teacher? The pay’s not even good!
Joel better tell his parents about this.
Well, this strip is rather sadistic. I’m not complaining but the meanspiritedness reminds of the original strip.
Dang, poor Joel. No wonder he became so jaded and cynical as a teen.
I think this lady is worse than Tucker
Yeesh! What a bitch! Why is she in charge of little kids?
