I think a part of Tina’s upgrade to supportive mother may have something to do with the fact that the Jesster is getting into his late 30s, if not early 40s, and it’s registering with him that parents are people
Wow. Tina’s being nice to Joel, instead of like, “Okay, FINE! You can get your stupid guitar! But you’re gonna have to buy it yourself!”
This is much better.
Jayster- you and I have had different p-t jobs. And work is not supposed to be something so rare that it’s held away from you in some state of holy grace.
Mowing all the lawns, huh? I wonder if that’ll mean Joel going out and meeting the families we saw in the last volume of the comic? Imagine Joel’s reaction when he meets Jocelyn’s white-dress version first.
I do find it demeaning when part-time jobs are constantly portrayed as being soul-sucking. I mean, I work at an Albertsons, and while I wish the wages were better, I appreciate the fact that I at least HAVE a job.
Everybody’s gotta get a head start somewhere. Besides, I enjoy interacting with other people, which helps me build self-esteem. It might be good for Joel to get a job since it’ll make him look good in the long run (though knowing his past history with employment, I know it’ll never stick XD)

Yeah, it does look good.
Hey, that would make a good album name! “Mowing Lawns Until Caterpillars Go Extinct”
Hey, you gotta do whatever you have to do to earn that money, Joel.

I like how Tina and William are being supportive. Plus, good advice on entering the workforce beforehand to get some real life experience.

Don’t tell me we’re gonna lead into the storyline where he gets relocated to a McDonald’s in Russia.
