@Mole204 I don’t usually kink shame people, but wtf man?!
Eh? No, it’s more like Monday, Tuesday, etc. Perhaps a caption like “knocked over a wooden fence” or something. It’s more about the cameos then about the spanking. Bring in Ally, bring in both Kevins, bring in something surprising. You’re describing Jenny wisening up in a single flash of insight and understanding. My description, there’s no stopping Jenny from being Jenny, even through punishment. There’s a point where Jenny became a better wildcard for unexpected entertaining events then the main cast, and it’s best to keep her that way.

… I was thinking about something closer to some good old karma: Jenny finally does something that physically backfires at he (an accident or something) that would be just bad enough to serve as a major scare and wake up call for her… but not enough to cause PTSD. Her friends and family would get a scare and once she’s be safe there could be a scene right out of Full House where she realizes her mistakes and stops doing stupid things (at least ones at this level).
Either that or someone finally gets angry at her AND tells her the one thing that gets to her/stikes a nerve that makes her think before she acts. Maybe with a side of honest tears on her side to show that she feels sorry (not a must… but a maybe).
As to what that something would be (in both scenarios), I have no idea. Jenny isn’t my character and I don’t know nor fully understand what makes her tic.
But yeah, consequences = physical danger and a major scare or emotional pain from deep cutting words.
not spanking…
@ Eye What do you want, a Jenny spanking montage? That’s a waste of a Sunday ‘strip, though it’d be interesting to see what Josselyn does. And Joel, and Michelle, Kendra, possibly Denise or Rick…. Would Denise spank Jenny bare- bottomed, or Josselyn’s mother? Disregarding the first row, that would be 8 panels. How many people has she done something spank-worthy to, again? I think it’s a last resort, but that hot doorknob is too far and the paint cans made contact. Not to mention off-panel disasters JB never worked into the strip.
@MegaJar there is one main and very simple reason for my dislike towards Jenny: exposure. I don’t remember any single arc that focused on Tucker, Mulroney, Patricia or Joel’s Grandma, especially for multiple weeks in a row (I only remember Joel’s Grandma from maybe 2-3 pages).
The other thing is, when Tucker, Mulroney or Patricia did something bad they’d eventually suffer some sort of consequences.
The only one who suffered any consequences in arcs related to Jenny was Eric, whom she dragged into her schemes. Every arc featuring her (that I remember at least) ended with her getting out scot free and without learning a damn thing. No lesson, no consequences… nothing.
Those are my reasons for hating Jenny so much. And antics where other people get hurt (see the page above) don’t help her case.
Lindsay at the very least had a whole multipart redemption arc where she realized how much she hurt the people in her surroundings and made a genuine effort to make ammends. And in this new timeline she’s a genuine sweetheart.
I could actually like Jenny if she actually learned from her mistakes. The fact that she’s a kid is not an excuse for setting up “Home Alone” traps that caused actual physical harm to other people.
I could ramble on and on about this but I believe that for now… this is more than enough.
@The Eye: …Seriously? Jenny? With all the odious characters in the old continuity who could have been number 3 on your list — Tucker, Mulroney, Patricia, Joel’s Grandma, even pre-redemption Lindsay — you set your hate-crosshairs on JENNY?
Jenny isn’t stupid. Mischievous, immature, and with an overactive imagination, but not stupid. And that’s to be expected, because SHE’S A KID. I don’t know how old she’s supposed to be canonically, but I’m guessing between 8 and 10 years old. It’s maturity that she’s lacking, not intelligence.
Personally, I like Jenny exactly as she is. She strikes just the right balance between “sweet” and “bratty”. Sure, she gets into all types of shenanigans, but it’s because of her hyperactivity and overactive imagination, rather than a conscious, Bart Simpson-like desire to cause trouble; and her hijinks have never led to any truly serious harm to anybody. She genuinely loves and cares about her sister and doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her. — remember when she saved Michelle’s life from a rampaging Kevin at the Thanksgiving Day Parade? To me, at least, she’s a very likeable character, and it’s always fun when she shows up.
And in all honesty, my greatest hope for this itteration of this comic is for Jenny to finally grow some brain cells and stop acting… like this.
In the previous version of 1990something, I vividly remember groaning every time I saw a strip with Jenny, cause she’d always cause trouble and never suffer the consequences of her actions nor did she ever wisen up.
Kevin and Rick used to be in my top 3 most despised characters in this comic. Jenny was number 3… I hope she wisens up and not become number 1 on that list.
I never understood the expression “that’s my guitar hand”. You need both of those suckers to play, traditionally speaking.

That’s it. Jenny isn’t allowed to watch movies until she can ascertain what’s real and what’s fake!

Well, this reminds me of something I saw some time ago…

if this comic didn’t go by comedy logic, Joel would be pretty much dead right now…

I think they’re learning not to attempt making out at Michelle’s place.
If you burn her at the stake, does that count as teaching fire safety?
“Hi Michelle, how did you spend Christmas?” “Disarming _bombs_!”
I love Home Alone 1 & 2 but I believe Jenny took the movie a little too seriously.
Damn, right when the story was getting good.
Still, this is a nice change of pace. Jenny’s gonna be quite the c**kblocker, won’t she? XD
