I quite enjoyed this arc! As @TheJayster49 said, it was a vast improvement over the original, giving Lindsay and Patricia much more depth, and making us actually root for her instead of against her. I’ll always wonder, though: if Patricia hadn’t screwed it up, could Lindsay have actually defeated Olivia on her own merits? I guess we’ll never know.
I do have one small criticism, though. While it’s clear that Lindsay has matured greatly over the course of this arc, it seems like it’s almost happened a bit too fast. Like, that nugget of wisdom in panel 3, about having her whole life ahead of her and not needing to plan everything out ahead of time? That feels like something a parent should be saying *TO* her, rather than something she figures out on her own. As she said herself, she’s only 18 — she shouldn’t be this emotionally mature yet.
Welp looks like that’s the end of the reboot’s retelling of the Star Search arc. I’ll be perfectly honest, my feelings are rather mixed.
On one hand, Lindsay and Patricia were both given far more character depth/growth and we’re shown how much of an all-loving hero Lindsay really is. Once again, this is a FAR CRY from her original counterpart, or at least prior to her redemption.
On the other hand, I felt the Star Search arc was too short as it only had two storylines and just one Sunday strip focusing on it. The reason this frustrates me is because I felt Lindsay losing the contest came rather abruptly and I was kinda hoping the arc would have more focus on her background since the first storyline established some hints about it. I get you probably intend on exploring Lindsay’s background in later storylines in greater detail but still. And I’ll admit, I AM a tad annoyed that Patricia got off practically with a slap on the wrist since she ruined Lindsay’s chance at stardom.
Even so, the reboot’s take on the Star Search arc was a major improvement over the original for actually focusing on Lindsay’s character and giving her depth, in addition to expanding Patricia’s role and giving her more depth as well.

@Stickfigure Productions She IS Katy after all! XD
@Lotso Probably, but I’m guessing that only Katy and her friends will be the only ones making a big deal out of it.
The whole school is gonna hate her, aren’t they?

Sometimes, you just have to take your time to figure out what you want.
