You know, I was actually hoping this would turn out to be a straightforward competition for once — no dirty tricks, no backstabbing or scheming, no “the other girl is an evil bitch, therefore she must lose” revelations… just an honest, fair contest between two nice girls who are both extremely talented and both deserve to win. So much for that, it seems.

This whole year, Trish has been desperate for some action outside the typical stay-at-home housewife life. She’s most likely done this in the past, back before Lindsay’s turn to the good side (probably with and without Linds’ consent). & she’s visibly shaking in that last panel. I eagerly await what kind of falling out/resolution the 2 will have.
I’d bet that if this version of Lindsay found out her mother bribed her a win, she’s gonna be really upset. Her new character wants to EARN her way to the top, not stomp on others to get what she wants.
I’m legit curious, how much do engineers make? Lindsay’s family always seem to be extremely well-off and it baffles me that such a job could ensure such financial stability.
@RobotDick he’s not an engineer in the same capacity as like, a NASA engineer. He works on oil drilling equipment, so he’s probably loaded.

Patricia, I get you want your daughter to win, but this is not the right way to help her win.
I find it funny how the guy’s expression goes from apathy to legit curiosity in the last panel (even if his dialog doesn’t really convey that).
Either way, unlike most jaded washouts in this comic, I appreciate that this guy at least doesn’t outright demean the contestants.
