…Huh. You know, so far I’m really not liking this arc as much as the original version, for two main reasons:
1. The victim is Kevin, not Joel. With Joel, I was rooting for him to come out of it OK, and cheering when Michelle was smart enough to figure everything out and call the cops, and when they officially declared their love after the rescue. Kevin? I could care less. Honestly, I don’t give a shit what happens to him.
2. Annie’s motivation for kidnapping is a lot less believable this time around. Being obsessed with her victim to the point of wanting to keep him all to herself? OK, I could see that. But holding him hostage because he disrespected her favorite author? Not really buying that.
Ah, so the motivation is that Kevin is going to annoy her until she cuts his foot off out of anger, is it?
Panel 2 does a good job of showing that Anne’s a little more screwball then expected. “Why’d you cut the orgy?” (laughter) Now there’s a good reason to walk off a job for you. Ain’t nobody gonna film that.
I’m usually against edited-down versions of a work, but in Steven King’s case it’s a matter of being overruled by the Save the Trees Foundation.
You try reading the uncut version The Stand, and having to take a leak isn’t even the top of the list.
I anticipated that Kevin would try and act like his casual asshole self throughout this whole ordeal, probably in an attempt to either “sweet talk” his way outta it or just show that he’s THAT narcissistic to the point where he isn’t scared. So it’s actually really amusing seeing him genuinely dismayed about being held hostage.
Also, Kevin, if you piss in that chick’s bed, then you’ll be covered in it as well.
I think his threat is to cover up that he still wets the bed.

Imagine being kidnapped by a nerd! XD
Well, Kevin, she could be into that…
She’d love the Mini-Series.

Damn, Kevin showing some defiance right there. But something tells me he’s gonna push Annie to her breaking point soon enough.
