Yeah, the normal response to “that’s a lot of responsibility” is a HEAVILY overoptimistic “sure, I’ll do that!” Not like Jenny needs help destroying things. Would be funnier if her parents agreed – then reminded her she has to pay/fix everything HER dog damages, meaning she gets the bills without the fun.
Does Jenny have goals other than wrecking things? Is there a way that she can wreck the house because she sat and ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast? If this wasn’t so determined to be about dogs, I’d suspect this would be building up to either a Jucyfruit wall leak commercial, or a neighborhood-wrecking gas main explosion.
JB is big on movie plays, but he sticks to the year’s schedule which can limit the story a bit. (But then I never found the ‘Beethoven the dog’ movies funny.) Jenny and Josceyln need to switch places. Not quite Freaky Friday, just live with the other family for a few days. Jenny would love Aunt Axel.
Yeah, owning a dog is a big responsibility. My family in the past had owned two Shih Tzu before they both passed away of old age. And just now, me and my family now have a new Shih Tzu puppy named Keiko. So this arc is something I look forward to.

@TheJayster49 Now that you mention it… that’s a pretty cold way of saying no to her wishes. Plus, it calls his marriage with Louise into question.
Aww poor Jenny not being able to live out her psychotic fantasies. Damn. Arthur sure doesn’t pull any punches.

Arthur clearly has some regrets in his life.
Bit of a Calvin and Hobbes vibe in that last panel
