Something seems…different about Jocelyn’s look in this strip… *thinks for a moment* *snaps fingers* Aha! Her piercings aren’t in! No nose ring, no lip rings, her face is completely metal-free!
merrymo – It’s because Ronald and Phyllis have been toned down from their incarnations in the first NNS. In the original version, Ronald was far more angry and abusive and threatened to slap Jocelyn. He’s a lot more buffoonish here. I’m not complaining because I think it’s a change for the better. This is supposed to be a comedic strip and parental abuse isn’t funny. Overall, Ronald was virtually the only antagonist in the original version who actually worked because his hypocritical, hate-filled “Christianity” was almost always met with karma. On the other hand, the change does make Jocelyn’s snarky comments, particularly towards her mother, seem a little less justified.
Once again, a line by Jocelyn in the fourth panel made me crack up. And surprisingly enough, I find Phyllis and Ronald to be a little more tolerable in this incarnation of the strip compared to the previous one.
This strip made me think of that one “Family Guy” episode where Peter Griffin threatens to pee on Amy Grant CDs in front of Jesus Christ himself and now I appreciate it even more XD

Ah, the old “is Amy Grant *really* Christian” debate. I remember that, back in middle school.
The way you draw expressions has gotten really cartoony and fun lately. Good stuff!

is it just me or does Jocelyn seem more mean spirited than normal
