Huh. Well, on the one hand, it looks like this is the genesis of Westworld, which is exciting and awesome. But on the other hand, this version seems a little…rushed.
In the old continuity, Aaron went to Woodstock, had an existential crisis about how he could make his mark on history, and while being exposed to some of rock-n-roll’s most legendary artists, he got the inspiration to start a band himself. The way the idea came to him was impactful and meaningful based on the circumstances. And on top of that, Jocelyn was in rage mode after Allie asserted that nobody would ever want her in a band, making her joining Westworld a logical conclusion and a satisfying way of making Allie eat her words.
In this version? Joel just wakes up one day and says “Wait, of course! I can make my own band! Duh!”
I dunno, it just seems kind of hollow, in comparison. This is one of the very few instances where I think the original continuity did it better than the new one.
But then again, the arc’s just starting, so let’s see where it goes.
It LOOKS like this is the start or at least the early phases of Westworld. They had it… KINDA good in the original, so it’ll be interesting to see how the band will play out this time.
Way more bands started out this way than some deep experience.

And Westworld begins its journey!
Aha! Back to the band! Yay! Now let’s see Joel try to talk Ally into letting Faith go. That aught to be some yelling.
Temple of the Dog: highly underrated band. This will be a fun little arc.
WestWorld here we come! XD

Joel’s reality just set in, and it’s the second set up for westworld.
