I may have rebooted the series, but I don’t believe everything from the first continuity needs to be rewritten. When I looked over this story, i thought it held up well for the most part, and only tweaked the beginning and end a bit to reflect the changes I’ve made. Selina isn’t a regular character, she doesn’t need a whole ton of fleshing out. Her other appearance from 1992 will probably remain unchanged as well.
There are very few instances of this in 1990, though. Most of the rewriting was done to get the series off to a stronger and less unpleasant start. In a few years, once we get to the point in the original continuity where I’d started to dial back on the angst and tension, you’ll see more familiar stories start to return – albeit with a few small changes here and there if I feel it’s necessary.
I too thought that JB was going to do something different with this mini-arc. Get Selina to totally shave her head. Get S to sing at the band practice. Get S to fall in love with a different musician at the end. Make her sit through some Sinead that she hasn’t heard and not liking it.
I love Steve’s face in the third panel. It reflects the pleasure a man gets when they find their fictional love. That and it’s also different from Steve’s usually stoic face lol
All-in-all, I will admit that I was a tad disappointed with this arc. Primarily because, plotwise, it was exactly the same as the original. The only major difference was Joel being less snarky and Steve’s presence. Though it only makes me look even more forward to when Selena finally gets over Sinead.

Don’t worry Joel, you will find your girl sooner than later.
