@MegaJar: That’s not what Joel’s talking about. He’s talking about doing important things for others and not whining about minor things that happened to him in the past and the present.

See, I’ve never really agreed with this way of thinking. Yes, there are people in the world with much, much worse problems than yours will ever be. But that doesn’t make your problems any less valid!

By this logic, only the people with the absolute worst problems anywhere on earth would ever be allowed to complain about them, because for everyone else, there’s always someone even worse off, so they should just shut up and deal with it. “Oh, you were sideswiped by a car and broke your leg? Well, there are kids in Haiti with nothing to eat, so quit your whining!”

Ah, to be young and think the world’s problems are personally fixable.

Looks like Lindsay has influenced Joel activist wise.

    Lindsay would be proud.

Some of Lindsay’s activism is starting to rub off onto Joel.

It’s nice Joel doesn’t wanna come off as whiny anymore, but I think this is a little TOO ambitious for such a small group. I also think this could backfire in the sense that people think they’re just complaining about “first-world problems” – which would be ironic considering they kinda already were doing that in the first place via using their songs as a means of venting personal frustrations – or are only doing so for brownie points.
