    @Rod G: Guess what, now you’re banned too. Four years of your passive-aggressive pessimism was more than enough.

    @Red Rain Understanding?

    More like condescending.

    Finally, an adult that listens and understands. (Let’s hope the “15 years of pot” doesn’t make him forget this conversation either.)
    Either he may drop this team-up thing and just ask his students to do something else, or he’ll grade each of them individually based on their contributions and not as teamwork.

    I really enjoy the idea that there are some more adults who actually want what’s best for Joel’s interest. Lars very much sounds like someone even my dad would be friends with.

    Hmm. Maybe this could be a golden opportunity for Joel’s friends to get in on the action? … if there was any action at all.

    I remember the time @TheJayster49 mentioned about how this series had Joel as the main character before @jbwarner86 let other characters like Lindsay, Jocelyn, etc. got the focus. Now it seems like Joel is about to reclaim his title with this story.

    This is kinda off the topic of this strip, but one recurring theme I’ve noticed in this comic is that music listeners outside of Joel and his friends don’t actually care about the lyrics; the only care about the instrumentals. I mean, I’m guilty of not paying attention to the lyrics myself (I usually don’t try and figure out what they mean until AFTER I listen to a song), but that is something that seems to be common among the characters.

    I suppose the reason Joel and his friends care about the lyrics is because they resonate with them, what with Cobain and Cornell suffering from genuine personal issues that they reflected into their music, and thus take it personally. That I can understand, but I do feel like JOEL’S the one who’s taking the music too seriously (the fact that many of the characters act like pretentious dickheads notwithstanding).

    I get that the music means a lot to Joel, but some people kinda just stay for the vibes (or background noise) rather than the angst. Plus, I don’t understand why some people wouldn’t wanna take a break from angsty lyrics every now and then. Though I suppose that’s what good ole’ Weird Al was for when he parodied that kind of music lol

    Nice to see Lars being understanding.

    Oh, good, he can probably skip hanging out with assholes this way.
