People have latched onto everything from how Gov. Connelly was shot to Jack Ruby having alleged mob ties as proof of conspiracy, and in my mind, it’s just a chain of coincidences that form just enough hints of one that our minds, seeking completion akin to how we form dreams, just makes something up that isn’t there.
Of course, Oswald tried to shoot JFK, but he was one floor too high, so an alternate timeline JFK who survived was brought back in time to assassinate himself and restore history.
It drove the conspiracy nuts crazy, but they never figured it out.
Hey, at least the conspiracy theories from that era were semi-plausible. Nowadays, we’ve got nutjobs pushing stories about the Deep State deploying Jewish Space Lasers and JFK Junior rising from the dead to join forces with the lizard people.

Ah, the JFK conspiracies. JFK was definitely one of Oliver Stone’s best films and it really raised a lot of questions, good and bad alike.
