    I’d like to speak up and give JB a big thumbs up for this new iteration of Kevin. Yes, he’s a douche. He’s a CREDIBLE douche. He says that he’s being ‘comedic’, and he may even think that. He’s not 300 pounds of 200 proof distilled Evil compacted into a 140 pound boy balloon

    My thoughts on old Kevin “WHY is this dude still alive?”
    My thoughts on this Kevin “HOW is this dude still alive?”

    I’m guessing that Kevin’s beloved Porsche isn’t going to do well in that snow.

    In order to properly soak a sponge, you hold it underwater and squeeze it a few times. Kevin’s gonna get squeezed.

    Fair Point, TheJayster49. I definitely understand your viewpoint. Hopefully, Kevin will get some character development in this arc.

    ‘Kay, I’m really torn between wanting to see this braindead himbo of a fuckboy get his just deserts and being somewhat uncomfortable and even concerned for his well-being. I just can’t shake this feeling of impending doom off and it’s making me real uneasy…

    I deeply apologize if there’s anyone else here that’s constructive with JB’s writing as well. I ain’t exactly the most observant with my surroundings so I’m sorry if I am unaware that you try to help out JB as well.

    @Red Rain & @Lourenzo

    Fair point, but even back in Forever 16 where he was just a douchebag there as well, Kevin never got any character development, and his attitude was far too excessive to really find all that amusing (not to mention he rarely got punished for it).

    Granted, Forever 16 was more of a gag comic and Kevin was unambiguously meant to fill in various stereotypes associated with the typical teen genre JB was aiming for. Nineteen-Nineteen-Something, as I have most certainly noticed, is JB’s attempt to take his characters in a slightly more serious and story driven direction (maybe not AS serious as the original incarnation, but the cerebus rollercoaster is still there to a degree).

    JB has been very self-conscious about his writing, and it seems like I’m one of the few people that actively tries to be constructive. I’m aware I can be blunt, but I’m trying to make an effort to dial it back (especially after JB noted he does the comic just for fun in the comments of one of his previous strips, which is completely fair).

    He hasn’t attempted rape or murder. So he’s alright. Besides it seems like hes gonna get a much needed wake up call

    Kevin brings the ass in “assclown” very well.

    Something tells me Kevin might get a bit of a wake-up call in this arc. I may be right, I may be wrong, but we shall see. And TheJayster49, at least this version of Kevin is just a douchebag instead of the psychopathic monster we saw in the last incarnation of this strip.

    Lindsey is right about everything except calling Kevin a sponge. A sponge can absorb water. A rock can’t, and that’s what makes Kevin Kevin.
    His confidence is sure unshakable though.
    … bad things always happen in parking lots in this series.

    We’re only three strips into this arc, and already Kevin’s douchebaggery is wearing out its welcome.

    I LOOKS like this story might be steering itself into much-needed character development for Kevin, but I strongly doubt that considering Kevin’s never received anything even remotely close to CD in any of his past incarnations.
